ABOUT THE MAKER:
The history of my Beconcini begins in the 1950s, when Leonardo Beconcini's grandfather was successful in purchasing the lands that he, along with his family, had already been working for some time, but as a sharecropper on the estate of the Marchesi Ridolfi family. The Beconcini family was one of the first in Tuscany to free themselves from the then-prevalent sharecropping system. Under Leonardo's grandfather, Pietro Beconcini Agricola was an agricultural operation that produced a variety of products; and later under his father’s direction, it became strictly a viticultural and winemaking estate.
TO THE WINE:
70% Sangiovese, 30% Canaiolo, 10% Malvasia nera, and 5% Trebbiano.
This Chianti, is a beautiful representation of Tuscan heritage, on the old Via Fancigena, a storied route travelled by pilgrims. travelling from Canterbury to Rome via San Miniato and snaking among the rows of grapes in Beconcini vineyards. Redolent of violets and juicy black. Rounded, firm, tart, and long-lasting in the finish.
